My name is Jessie Still. This website chronicles a bit of my life. My life vision is to life FULLY as a friend of Jesus (John 15:15). I find that happens most naturally through a lifestyle of prayer — that is, interacting with God. It’s the grand privilege of every human being to relate to the Creator. I also direct a ministry on the Michigan State University campus called the Furnace — and that’s all about prayer. So, this blog will also be a place to post updates on that. I hope you find it interesting and most of all, encouraging.
More about me: I’m married to an amazing, beautiful woman, Erica (ahem, Dr. Erica Still, D.O.!). I have a beautiful daughter, Chloe, who at 3 years old, is ready to take over the world, and has definitely taken over my heart. 🙂
I got my degree in Music (piano and voice; Eastern Michigan University), and really enjoy music . . but, mostly as it relates to interacting with God. I’ve always really felt called to ministry, so it’s been a great tool for that. I’ve written some music (not much really), and recently laid down my first official album. I also hope to record some of my original worship songs in the near future.
I spent about ten years doing full-time ministry in my church (Spirit of Christ Church in Haslett, Michigan: youth pastoring, small group leading, worship leading, associate pastoring, administrating, preaching, etc.), but a year ago made the big move to full-time campus ministry. Some would call is a “step of faith” — and it is, because it’s following what I believe God is saying (isn’t that we’re all supposed to do?) — but has been very natural, because it seems so right. So, now I guess you’d say I’m a “campus missionary”, as the term has been coined. I direct the Furnace at Michigan State University, fueling a campus awakening through prayer and connecting the Body of Christ through that movement.
I love Jesus. Maybe you already caught that. 😉
I like to eat dessert . . and drink lots of coffee.. I really enjoy talking to people. My favorite thing to do in life = encourage people (literally, to give courage). If I can help someone gain courage to walk on in life and see them smile with genuine joy, it makes my day.

Jessie, I am enjoying your blog of Revelation. I have been reading a chapter a day.
Wondering if you have run into and how you handle religions that have their own version of the Bible? It’s hard to discuss topics without it becoming a “bible war”. My Bible says this, but my “bible” says this.
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Revelation posts. It is a book that I enjoy and am continuing to grow in. I’m not sure if I understand your question completely. By other religions are you referring to Hinduism, Islam, etc… or different denomination within the Christian community??
Hi Jessie, I read about your prayer ministry in Reader’s Digest. I am also called to prayer and started a prayer ministry in the church I used to attend…however, very few parishioners were interested in coming to a prayer meeting and expressed an attitude of distrust. Since leaving that church I have heard comments about prayer meetings being abused as “gossip sessions”. What is your opinion about this attitude coming from Christians? How can I be most effective in facilitating corporate prayer among believers?
