Breakthrough to Joy!

[this post is part of a 40-day season of prayer and fasting that my church is doing called “Rend 960”]

Nehamiah 8:10 …. the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

I Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory

Life can be unpredictable. As much as we try to control our circumstances, many times we cannot. Things change; people change. The Good News is, God does NOT change! He is absolutely unchanging! So, when we are trusting in His Love and faithfulness, we will not be disappointed! He is ALWAYS good! And, that is why our battle cry can always be: “The Lord IS Good, and His LOVE endures forever!”  He IS Good = at all times, in every situation and every season, no matter what, HE IS. His love endures forever= at all times, it can’t be stopped, it’s always there and is stronger than anything else, higher, wider, deeper,
HIS LOVE!
I really enjoyed the theme that ran through yesterdays service of JOY– How the Lord had been teaching us to enter into His joy! Note: it is HIS joy, it comes from HIM, not us. That should give us great confidence once again, that JOY which is HIS, but given to US, is absolutely unchanging, immovable, and unstoppable! It’s bigger, better and stronger than the trials, challenges and frustrations of life.
So, today I want to encourage you to breakthrough into joy! Take hold of that glorious promise. Here’s how:
Today, spend more time thinking about GOD, who He is and what He is like. You may even want to write it all down. Then use those character traits of God as launching pads to worship. Tell Him how Good He is!
Then, thank Him! Think of everything in your life and thank God specifically for each blessing! Thank Him throughout the day as things happen and as you encounter different people and situations. Thank God for each one! Thank Him for His Presence at each moment; for His activity at work in each situation, etc.
The more you do those two these, the greater your experience of His Joy will be! But, don’t stop there, as the well of joy in you continues to rise, find others to splash His joy on! 🙂
Grace and Peace to you!
