Greetings, friends and family! About a month ago, we sent a little update letter your way, and said we’d send more news soon – well, here it is!
The Doctor is IN!
After a much-needed and well-deserved vacation, Erica has begun her residency! She joins a very diverse and international team of doctors in the pediatric ward of Sparrow Hospital here in Lansing. The schedule is pretty intense, but Erica has already been receiving very favorable comments from the senior doctors that she works with. They are impressed with her ability to handle her young patients, their parents, and the difficult situations that sometimes arise.
Transitions at Church
The new pastors of Spirit of Christ Church (where Jessie has been serving), Mike & Flora Mason (pictured here), have arrived and have been “in the saddle” for over a month now. Jessie is enjoying working alongside them in this transition period, and is excited to help as they plan some exciting changes. Wonderful things are already happening in the lives of the church members through their ministry. We’re glad to be a part of it, even as Jessie’s role in ministry changes.
Doors opening at Michigan State University
[If you haven’t yet, you should read the note on the Furnace by clicking here] Since making the decision to commit the next few years to campus ministry (primarily in building the prayer movement, www.FurnaceMSU.com), opportunities and invitations to do ministry have been coming from different people and organizations on campus! We feel this is only a confirmation that this is the right direction for Jessie to pursue at this time. It’s always nice to see evidence that you’re “on the right track” (though we weren’t really doubting)! Many people have been asking about what he’ll be doing there and what his vision is for the work on campus. Jessie will be sharing all about this on Sunday, June 18th during the morning service at Spirit of Christ Church. If you are in the area, or would like to drive in for the day, please come! For those that cannot come but are interested, it will be recorded, and we’ll be sending out further newsletters to keep you informed, as well as posting things on the web.
Building a team
Since this work on campus is a missionary position, Jessie is looking to build a team of people who are interested in being a part of the work through praying, giving, and serving (if you happen to be in the area). If you believe in Jessie and what he’s seeking to do on campus, we’d love for you to consider joining the team in any or all of those areas.
-Could you take time to pray for the endeavors on campus regularly?
-Would you be willing to invest financially in this work?
-Perhaps you have a heart for the campus, and even some experience doing ministry on-campus. Your service and input is greatly valued!
FAQ: “Isn’t Erica getting paid now? Do you really need financial support?”
Answer: Erica’s pay as an Intern is not enough cover our (frugal) family budget. Additionally, Scripture confirms that those whose lives are given to work in ministry should be sustained (financially) through it.
Please consider and pray regarding what ways (any, one, or all of the above) you might like to be a part of this next season in our lives. Your involvement is REALLY appreciated! If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask! Or, if you’re ready to link arms with us, let us know — visit the “Join the Team” page!!
Original Music CD in the works
Jessie is currently working to put together a collection of original songs in recorded format. It’s not being carried by any label, but we are working with some talented friends, and seek to make it of quality fit for distribution. Some of you know and have enjoyed some of the songs that Jessie has written. We’re excited to record them for others to enjoy This project is in very early stages, so we’ll keep you posted as things progress.
We hope that all is well with you. We love to hear from you!
Lots of love- The Stills (Jessie, Erica & Chloe)
