You’re In. But, How Far Will You Go?

“..we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all…… For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Hebrews 10:10, 13-14
My daughter loves gymnastics. She has class twice a week for an hour and a half. And, anytime she doesn’t know what else to do, she’s jumping, flipping, doing the splits. Doesn’t matter where she is – home, school, at the store, etc. She is a gymnast, and she loves it!
We paid for the class and membership at great facility. They have teachers who are award-winning gymnasts, and who can train her to be amazing at the sport. All the resources she needs are there for her, she doesn’t have to do anything to get them. But, she does have to show up to class, apply herself, take advantage of the coaches, the training, etc. The limit to which she’s willing to do so, is the limit to which she can excel in her passion. So, she’s a gymnast, that part is done. But, how far will she go? That’s up to her!
“..we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
It’s the same for us in the marvelous new life that Jesus has given us. We are already made holy, pure and right before God. We are “IN”. And, it’s not by anything we have done. Jesus did it! He paid the full price, and made sure everything needed was provided and at our disposal. HALLELUJAH! I can’t think of better news than the FREE GIFT of righteousness! I am in awe and wonder each time I think of it. My heart overflows with thanksgiving and worship!
“..by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

We are in the Kingdom, by no merit of our own. We have been made perfect (past tense). But, how far will we go? How much will we take advantage of the free gift of righteousness? As it goes on to say, we are being made holy (present-ongoing). Seems a bit confusing right?
You’re thinking, “Are we holy, or are we being made holy??” The answer is, YES!
As one song says, “How far will You let me go? How abandoned will You let me be?” I feel the Lord would say “as far as you will!”. The limitations to the heights and depths we go in God are completely self-imposed! God does not restrict us, but is ever drawing us deeper, and stirring up hunger in us to experience more of Him. But, even if He stirs up hunger, He can’t make us eat! You get to choose to apply yourself to His holiness and His Presence. You get to go to “class” by reading the Word, praying (and praying in the Spirit), and gathering with others!
Listen to your Coach, the Holy Spirit,  and do what He says (even if it seems hard at first) – He’ll help you! He IS the Helper. Sometimes Coach is speaking through other believers, too, so make sure your listening for Him there, too!
You’ve been set free from every hindrance and barrier, so take off the restrictions and soar into the beauty of holiness! You were made for it!
What are some ways you are saying “yes” to God’s holiness in your life right now? What ways has the Holy Spirit been coaching you? Share them!
You’re destined to be a Champion in Holiness!
